Meet Kya

Kya's love for dance began right here in Redding, california at just three years old. Starting her dance journey downtown Redding, she grew up exploring a variety of styles, including ballet, lyrical, jazz, hip-hop, tap, and modern. Throughout her life, dance remained a constant passion, eventually leading her to discover the world of partner dancing, where she fell in love with the connection, creativity, and freedom of movement shared between two people.

Her journey took an unexpected turn when she stumbled into an opportunity to teach dance. What began as a new experience quickly sparked a passion she never knew she had. She discovered just how much she loved sharing her knowledge, encouraging creativity, and watching others develop their own unique styles.

That newfound love for teaching, combined with her lifelong passion for dance, inspired her to create The Groove Garden. Her vision was to build a welcoming space where dancers of all styles, backgrounds, and experience levels could come together to learn, connect, and express themselves.

Having grown up in Redding's dance community, Kya is excited to give back to the place where her journey began, creating new opportunities for people to discover their own love for dance and helping the local dance community continue to grow.
